Grass is over my head

Hi there, my name is Mr. Gun Smoke and in the last post, our assistant made you think that Joe and I didn't  have any grass at all. We have plenty in our own little pasture and we are a little plump, so we don't really need a lot of the grass. As you can see, the grass is over my head which actually is lots of fun because then I can hide from Mom. She can't see us in this tall stuff. That is why, our assistant had our guests come to visit for a couple of months.

This is the other horse that is here. His name is Dave and he is a Missouri Fox Trotter. The Missouri Fox Trotter has a gait (way of moving legs) that is very comfortable to ride. It is very smooth and all you have to do is sit there.  Our assistant does not know a lot about these kind of horses because she spent her whole life teaching people how to ride what they call Hunters and Jumpers.

Anyway, we are enjoying having our guests here. Yesterday, Joe and I got to running around and playing and Shadow thought it was pretty interesting to see two little donkeys with those long ears running around.

We have guests.

Hi there our names are Joe and Mr. Gun Smoke and we are the two resident miniature donkeys here.  We usually have the run of this place along with the one goat and can go anywhere we darn please.  Then last Sunday, here comes this horse trailer into our front pasture.  Our mom had already closedthe gate so we couldn't get into the front pasture.  We couldn't figure that one out.

Anyway, two horses climb right out of the horse trailer.. So of course we wanted to know what is going on.  So it seems that there is a lot of grass in the front and we are not eating enough of it so she told a friend of hers that she could bring her two horses over to eat the grass. Well the gal that owns the horses was very pleased because she wanted to get her two horses off her pasture to give it a rest.

Can you tell how small I am compared to that big horse

Anyway, this was all very exciting because we really wanted to meet these two guests.  But our mean Mom wouldn't let us go out with the two horses, one reason being that they are 10 times our size. The other reason is that one of the horses is a little bossy and Mom didn't want us to get hurt.  We spent two days staring at each other because the two horses couldn't figure out our long ears and we couldn't figure what they were doing in our pasture. Anyway, we are still annoyed.

PS  An update on Black. He is feeling much better this morning and eating a lot. He still is somewhat puny but after all he had a busy day yesterday. But Mom is thrilled that he is so excited about eating. That is a good sign. So the fluids did their trick.

Oh Noooos, I had to go to the vet.

Here I am checking that darn carrier to see if I left anything behind.

Hi there, my name is Black. I haven't been feeling very well for the last couple of days. I don't feel like eating, got a little diarhea and threw up some this morning. So mom put me in that pink carrier and off we went much to my horror. I was crying and crying. Why does she have to take me in  the pink thing?? I was mortified.

So then we go in the waiting area and this strange cat comes up to the carrier and rubs all over the cage. Who the heck does he think he is?? It turns out he is the office cat and I think he is a nice guy. Then we go in that famous little room and they did all kinds of stuff to me that is too embarrassing to talk about.  I didn't have a temp so I guess I am not too sick. They can't figure out what is wrong with me. I am just puny and don't want to do anything.  So they decide to give me fluids under my skin and now I have this huge lump at the top of my leg. I can barely walk.

Can you see where they stuck those fluids in my side??

Anyway, I made it home somehow.  Hopefully  I will feel better tomorrow and start eating. Everyone at the vet office really liked me which was nice. And I was such a good boy for all the stuff they had to do to me.  The assistant will update tomorrow.

We get to mow the grass, Yipppeeeeee!!!

Hi there, my name is Black and I get to be first.

We are always trying to help the Mom out with the yard work. So she left the riding lawm mower out for a couple of days, so we figured we would give her a little help. Now I wish you would look at that dirty lawnmower. You'd think she could give it a bath but no she drives it around dirty. It lives over in the donkey barn and those darn donkeys do nothing but roll around in the dirt and stir up all the dust and of course all the dust falls on the poor lawnmower.

My name is Khaki and it is my turn now.

So I guess we just have to mow the grass on a dirty mower because we sure are not going to wash it.  We just  don't want to get wet and it is hard for us to turn the hose on.  We think that we are just being nice to mow the grass.  So we will mush on with that ole dirty and dusty mower.

Now then, see how smart I am. My name is Spitter and I am the Man of this place sometimes so I am doing the snoopervising from this chair. I am the smart one. Much easier to just sit here and tell those other two what to do.

Hope everyone has good mower drivers like us.
