A rescued pet comes up with a miracle

This is BB
This is my cat BB

I have a cat amongst many others that I rescued whose name is BB... She appeared in my back yard all wild and scared as a 7 or 8 month old kitten. I guess she and her brother lived on birds and rats and whatever else they could catch to eat. She did come with her brother and they looked very much alike. His name was Little Bit. He was harder to get to know than his sister, BB.

Whenever I rescue these cats, I always try to get them neutered or spayed which involves tricking them into going in a cage. That takes a week or more of trickery. I just put their food in the cage at the front at first and day by day slide the food further back until I can get the cage door shut. And by that time they are used to the cage anyway.

BB has a kind of funny story about being spayed. When I went to pick her up at the vets after the spaying, they told me that she had a BB in her abdomen, and they took it out and they were worried that I would have wanted it left in because of her name. Well I did not know that she had a BB there. Evidently my next door neighbor was shooting all the cats with a BB gun before I had moved into my present house. I did not name her BB because of that, I named her Big Bit, cause her brother’s name was Little Bit and she was bigger.

Anyway, BB became very tame, would sit in my lap, come in the house and in general is a very nice cat. So was her brother, Little Bit but he wasn’t nearly as tame. As a matter of fact, he disappeared one day and never did come back. That was horrible to have to live through because I never did fine out what happened to him. He had lived here for 7 years and even when he was sick, he would come home. There was no way anyone else could have picked him up, cause I had a hard time catching him. I looked for that cat for months.

So when BB disappeared, I was really upset. I looked for her everywhere, spent the days and evenings calling her and nothing. So after a week, I had sort of given up, figuring something had killed her. After about ten days, I went out one evening to sit on my back steps to sit with the cats, and a cat came up to my back gate, and it was BB. I couldn’t believe my eyes. She seemed fine, very hungry and thirsty. I put her in the house and she ate and stayed in the house for two days. I guess I will never know where she was or what happened to her. I am just glad she did come back. So that was the small miracle. That she had made it home after that long of time.

Glad your story ended up to be a happy one. Mine was not, my white Persian cat disappeared and never came back, was searching for him for couple of weeks but couldn't find him anywhere. Maybe it was his time to go...

Awww! That story is touching. My own house is a definite cat house too. We have four, three of which are cats that my step-mum brought back from work (she's a vet). One of them will be 20 in July!

One student blogger in my country made the news by blogging how he killed a cat in a brutal way. Not everyone was happy so he caught the eye of the public and got scolded. even by his school. I admire your love for these animals. Have a nice day.

What a lovely story. That's what so tough when they vanish... we always hope they will come back.

And this time she did!
