Black, to the V-E-T

Black here, and I am very upset. She put me in this box and then she took me out to that big cage on four wheels that make a lot of noise. So I let her know that I was not happy by screaming my lungs out. I have never been in this cage by myself. Anyway, I have very runny poo, so I had to go be checked.

Well while I was there, the darn vet decided that I have IBD since I have had runny poo off and on for a long time. IBD is Irritable Bowel Disease. We also decided that it probably is food related. So before we start me on Prednisolone which is steroids and not a good thing since I am so young, we are going to change my diet as much as possible. We are taking dry food out of my diet and adding some human chicken and mostly canned food. He wants me to try Science Diet. We are just going to play it by ear, and see what works.
Anyway, while I was there, they stuck me many times since I was due for my shots. That is why in the picture I am on my sick bed. I don't feel good. That was such a long day, so I am snoozing now.

Have a great day, friends!
Sending lots of get well soon purrs to you Black.
We're sorry to hear about the stabbings too - rumour has it that we have to go later this month for our annual check up and torture session.

The only way a real diagnosis of IBD can be made is via biopsy. Vets tend to say "IBD" when as you noted, it could be a food allergy. It could be a protein that is bothering you, which is why trying a single-protein food is good. If you will eat your canned with a bit of pumpkin (no spices) mixed it, the pumpkin will help firm your stools. And slippery elm bark (powder), either boiled up and syringed in or perhaps even just sprinkled on your food (just a tiny bit is all you need) will help soothe your upset tummy and insides. Your mom can Google that she wants; it's very commonly given to IBD kitties when they have a flare-up.

Hey, I hope that nasty weather didn't bother you the other night. It was yucky up here but we missed the worst of it!
Love to all of you and your mom.
Wot to do!
Black has runny poo!
Take him to the VET
'cos he is a speshull pet,
And we want him feeing pucka
so he can enjoy his tucka!
Sure it was a scary experience for you!
I hope the change on your diet works so you will not need meds!
Take care

You totally deserve good pets and toys and excellent noms after your traumatic day. Rest well, my friend!
I hope you feel better soon!
Brudder Cap'n Ripley does NOT like to go to the V.E.T. either. The last time mom and dad took him, he pooed in the carrier and then walked around in it and was all "hahahahaha! Now thee dost have POO HANDS, scoundrel!" when the V.E.T. went to get him out of the carrier. Mom was kind of traumatized.

My orange tabby, Milo, the sick one, is doing "OK." He's such a tough cat. He's used up so many of his "lives" that he is a walking miracle. We think he may have cancer, since I found some lumps while doing a routine physical. He's happy enough, eating tons of good wholesome food and getting lots of rubs. But it's sad to see him go. I still don't want to have him put to sleep, not yet. He's still got some spunk in him. He still purrs when he sees us. :)
Have a great weekend.
