Hi there, my name is Girl Kitty and I definitely have nine lives. I have used up at least three of them so far.

And here is one reason that they say we have nine lives, for three of those lives, we play, for three of the lives, we stray, and for the last three, we stay. That really is an old proverb but it seems to be very true.

One reason they say we have nine lives is because we can jump or fall down a long ways and be just fine and we always land on our feet and just keep going along which is very nice. And we can get out of nasty situations because we can get through some really small spaces to make our escape. Our Mom has seen that too many times. The kittens would just crawl right under the door in their room.

I used up one of my lives when I was a small kitten. Somehow, I was out in a pasture with some horses and one of them stepped on me and ruined my hind leg but I crawled around on three legs for a long time and I still limp but I still can run pretty fast. That was before my Mom moved here but someone told her about me.

Then about a year ago, I disappeared for about three days because I sure didn't feel good and so I had to go hide. When I returned because my appetite came back, I had blood all over my body. I looked really bad and Mom was a wreck. BUT the big problem is that I will not let her pick me up and she did not know where the blood was coming from so she didn't want to hurt me and didn't want to scruff me to catch me because if she got the place where I was hurt, I would have gone crazy. I probably should have had some antibiotics. So little by little, I got the blood cleaned up off my body and pretty soon I was fine. It took about two weeks but Mom figures I had a really bad abscess.

So that is two lives and this is long enough for now, so I will tell the story of the third life some other day. So it isn't just that we can land on our feet, but we seem to be able to recover from many things.
