Does your cat cut in on your phone calls
Hi there, my name is Tabatha. When our phone rings and Mom answers it, we dash to sit in her lap, or behind her or under her or just somewhere close to her and the phone. It just seems like a great time to get some good attention. Usually she is just working on this darn computer and we are always getting the busy signal from her while she is blogging.
Over there at Catster, they offer a few pointers to help with this problem. One is to put us kitties in another room while the beans are talking on the phone. Well, our mom wouldn't be able to talk, because there would be 4 or 5 of us to move to the other room. But that would be a good idea if there was only one of us.
Another thing is to try to train us to be quiet. Good luck on that idea. The way to do that is to have some practice runs. In other words sit down and act like you are talking on the phone, and when you kitties come running over, say 'quiet' and turn and ignore him. When he is quiet, praise him and give him some attention. Another really good idea is to keep a toy near the phone that you can entice the cat with. We like the toy idea. That will work. I hope our Mom does the toy idea. We might behave for that but it is so much fun to run all over her body.
Ok, here is the deal on the Free Kibble questions. Everyone knew the answers so I would have to give away 25 prizes and I just don't have that many. So I am going to a different source and I am NOT telling where I am getting them. I am going to count the correct answers that we have already and then continue on. First person to get 10 questions correct, wins the prize.
So, here is a new question.
What cat breed has an unique hiss called a snake Hiss?
Good luck everyone.
Hmm, we don’t bother our human when she’s on the phone, though sometimes we’ll play the “poor neglected me” game and look at her woefully, because her attention is not on us.
As for the question, we say it’s the Savannah breed…but please don’t include us in the draw! Thanks.
Maizy loves to talk when our daddy is trying to talk on the phone, it’s very cute!
We think the answer is B???
Awww me and Charlie also like the toy idea Tabatha!! We hope your mum will try that. :-)
As for the answer.. er… I’m going for Singapura because I haven’t a clue what kind of kitty that is! :-)
I don’t know the answer to that question, but if someone calls I will ask them!
We don’t talk too much when Mum is on the phone unless she answers it in the middle of feeding us (which is very bad mannered of her) but we do lay on the floor and suck our cheeks in and try and make our tummies look hollow to encourage her to cut it short!!
Samson usually chirps and whines when I’m on the phone, but Delilah is always very quiet.
We are going to guess Savannah cats, just from the process of elimination.
Years ago (before us) mama had a kitty (Sunshine) that would answer the phone if she got there before any of the humans. She would paw at the receiver until she knocked it off the phone.
So, the phones in mama’s house that weren’t wall hanging were all covered over with a basket so Sunshine couldn’t answer!!!!!!!!
Hi there! Your phone calls story is funny! Luckily my 2 furballs don’t bother me when I’m on the phone. I think they’re too busy napping.
I think the answer to the question is the Savannah cat.
Have a purrfect day!
I think the best solution is for the human to use the phone as little as possible, or only talk on the phone while the cats are napping (that shouldn’t be so hard because we sleep a lot!). The thing is it is very hard to teach a cat NOT to do something. Not doing things is really not in our vocabulary. Teaching us to do something instead is easier. So the toy idea MIGHT work.
We wait until mom is on the phone and then we get in to scuffles, knock things off her desk and make a ruckus where she can’t reach us while she’s sitting. We can be completely controlled by the laser toy, though, except the old ladies who hog her lap in the first place.
We are going to guess Savannah cats!
We don’t pester when Mommy’s on the phone, but we do at any other time! We are Big Pests, according to her.
Halle likes to talk on the phone; she is kinda famous with family and close friends for doing that!!…She even leaves messages sometimes on their machines!!MOL…We think it’s Savannah cats…Happy week friends…xo…Calle, Halle, Sukki
I never had that problem when I had a cat. I did have that problem with my kids though :)
I like to get on my mommy’s shoulder and make her carry me around the house when she’s on the phone! It’s fun!
We’re going to guess the Savannah breed!
We don’t bother mom when she’s on the phone, unless we’re hungry. Then we’ll bother mom no matter what she’s doing!!
We don’t know the answer to the question but we’ll guess the Savannah.
When I had cats I didn’t have this problem. I did have a cat that followed me everywhere I went. Everywhere. Not the phone though.
Answer: D. Savannah
Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)
We will go with Burmese too!!
My pups also just love taking advantage of the unbusy hands when I’m on the phone!!
Love the way you you’ve taken over that phone, Tabatha. You just never know when someone might be calling for you.
“The Boys” are good when we’re on the phone, but when someone comes to the door they run ahead of us to get there first. And we have to be careful we don’t trip on them.
Maybe you just want a phone of your own? You could call me.
It’s the Savannah for sure! My cats are always trying to sit on my lap while I am writing, and they just love to “help” me type – which mostly consists of hitting delete when they don’t think what I’ve written is good enough. LOL.
