Formerly Feral Friday

Hi there, Maggie here on the left an Little Bit on the right. We are both formerly feral and Maggie is Mahoney's Mom. Little Bit here, and I am still very feral in many ways. But I do like living in this house and Maggie is my best friend. The feral kitties make wonderful pets, it just takes a lot of patience, but it is so worth it in the long run. Even Momma kitty who is toatally feral is a really good kitty.  Once you win their trust, they are your friend for life.  It is the Person's favorite subject. Wish we could get the word out more about what good kitties they are.

Can you see our visitor?? He/ She is very pretty. Orange Boyzo tried to catch the butterfly but luckily was not successful.

Hi there, Mahoney here. I told the person that all my wonderful supportive fans probably would like to see a picture of me. I wanted to play but of course couldn't so she gave me some good smelling toys for me to just hug.  I am still improving but now walking like a drunk.  Also I refused this morning any assistance from the Person. She was carrying me around but I told her that I could do it myself even if it takes me a little time.

Don't forget to go check out the auction. AUCTION

Wishing everyone a super Friday. WhooHooo it is time for the olympics.

How nice to see Little Bit and Maggie having some quiet time together and we are so happy they are the best of friends.
It's nice that Mahoney wants to do things for herself again and it is probably good for her to move around a little bit so she doesn't get "set" and hopefully her walking will improve as she uses her muscles.
Take care Marg.

Marg, turning ferals into trusting pets is no easy feat and I'm so glad you have the patience to take care of all who find you!

Have a good weekend!

Two of my cats, Tommie and Mickey are formerly ferals. Mickey Mouser was only 2.2 pounds and 11 weeks old when we got him. I shudder to think that he wasn't going to last much longer on his own in the woods. He's two years old now and very fearful around strangers but otherwise so loving, energetic, and charming! You'd never know sweet Tommie was feral now, but it took time. I agree with you about ferals, Marg!
So happy that Mahoney continues to improve.

What a nice family. And butterflies...sometimes the get away, other times...not so lucky. They're too delicate to be played with.

As a formerly feral boy myself, I approve of this post!

Plus, Mahoney!!! Looking good! And good for you to try to get around on your own--that's probably the best thing for you! Sigh--people get all grabby hands, don't they? I know they mean well, though ;-) Still purring really hard 24/7!!!

The Person is right. Feral kitties can be very nice kitties. We have Zoey, and while she wasn't totally feral, she was a skittish stray. She is still skittish and runs from the mom sometimes, but she is a nice kitty.

Mahoney, we're glad you are doing better. We continue to purr for you.

It just amazes us as to the great job your mom does and a few other Twitter friends to with socializing ferals. It takes a lot of patience and time I guess.

Well it sounds as though there has been a bit of progress for Mahoney. Hopefully it will be like Levon's "mystery illness" , slow for her to feel 100% better but she will reach that 100% in time and maintain it!
Education about feral cats IS important and it does seem as though people are understanding more and more that with time and patience a feral cat can become a very good family cat!

My Dad and Mom tamed a feral Mom and her son before me...they are both OTRB now, but they were so worth saving. And I am glad to see Mahoney feeling a tad more perky...this is hard I know...more healing purrrrs coming her way, Paw Pats, Savannah
