National Feral Cat Day

Today is National Feral Cat day and we wanted to do a small part in celebrating  the day. We have a lot of feral cats here which are mostly kittens grown up that came from feral mommas.

Hi there, Momma kitty here. I am a very feral cat and have been coming over here to eat for four years now and have had 3 litters of kittens that I tried to make wild and feral too but that darn human caught them and took them home with her. The last three I had, I kept hiding in different places so that she couldn't capture them but then I got distracted, and she somehow found them and lured them over to her house. It took her a long time to get the very last one which was Tees. Ohs and Bees figured out where the food was.

Then that lady started feeding me in a box of some sort but I was hungry so I started to go into the box. After about a month, all of a sudden she closed the door and I was trapped. Yikes. She put me in that machine and took me to that place calleh 'the vets' where I promptly bit someone. I had to be quaranteed for two weeks which meant me being in a cage that long. I tried my darndest to get out and got my nose all bloody but I survived, had my girly operation and got to come home.

This is not exactly what they call TNR but it is close. In the TNR, they go to different colonies of feral cats and put out traps of different sorts with food in them and trap a lot of feral cats, take them to be neutered and then return them to where they were found. There are an awful lot of great people that do this and they are great because it takes a lot of time and patience.

I heard the other day about a state that will not allow TNR which I think is just horrible. It is such a good way of keeping cats out of the shelters since for one big reason, they cannot have any children.

Hi there, Maggie here. I am a feral cat and this woman here trapped me at a house that was abandoned by the owner. We were getting fed maybe every third day or something and the possoms and squirrels helped to eat the food too. Then this lady came along with some food in a can and she put it in a box and of course I went in to eat the food. After about a week, she closed the door and off I went to 'the vets', but  I came home to her house after my operation and shots. I am still in the house and getting a little better but I still don't want that lady to touch me.

Your Mom would do anything to help you and I'm so glad she was there, even if she did have to be sneaky! Y'all have lots of Easy today!!!

I can't believe a state doesn't allow TNR. That is horrible. Where I live there was a huge feral cat problem a few years back, but TNR started, and there was such an improvement. not only did the cats stop having liters they were cared for and fed.

Thanks for your post on National Feral Cats Day, Marg! I hope you don’t mind that I have included a link to your post on my blog post for today.

I read about National Feral Cat day on another blog. What a great day. I think the TNR program is a good idea and I can't believe that some states wouldn't allow it. You would think they would rather have that than an overpopulation of cats running around

Momma Kitty and Maggie, that lady sure has done her part to help feral kitties. Probably the best thing to do for them is to get them fixed so they can't make more kitties. We know that probably didn't make you happy, but trust us, it's the best thing for you.

Happy National Feral Cat Day!

Momma Kitty and Maggie, you two sure did a great job with today's post! We are so happy that Marg found you (and your kittens, too, Momma Kitty), and that you have a safe and loving place to live.

Thank you for sharing about National Feral Cat Day, and about TNR. It really does work!

Momma Kitty and Maggie, your mom is definitely the Queen of the Ferals! What good work she does! We know you know that better than anyone. We didn't know she could be so sneaky! We hope one day you will love scratches, Maggie. Our Mica Moo couldn't be keep in a cage when she was waiting for a home. She kept throwing herself against the bars too. Its a feral kitty thing. You kitties are luckier than you know!

We are all formerly feral here at The Lounge. Humans need to get us spayed and neutered.
Our feral guy Henry really likes his new Hut, and of course his dinner!
Marg, we are glad you opened your heart to your formerly ferals, bless you.

You have the bestest mom in the world sweetie. She does her own TNR - well almost release. But even better, she tried to find the kitties a new home. You are so lucky to have Marge in your life. Every feral kitty should be this loved and feed.

Momma Kitty and Maggie, you two sound like ferals through and through! But you are very lucky ferals, and have it much better than a lot of other kitties. I hope all the attention we are giving National Feral Cat Day helps to help some of those less fortunate kitties.

Momma Kitty and Maggie, you are both very pretty ladycats! It's okay if you are feral but we're glad your mom made your babies not feral. We're also glad both of you are cared for, fed, loved and can no longer have more babies that have no homes. Your mom is a very special lady to help all you kitties!

TNR is a good system but it's not cool when a state doesn't allow TNR ! but Me and mom hope one day, they will allowed again. I do love your post today, and thanksful what your human did to many ferals.
