I had to go pick up Squeaky's ashes today and that is always a very hard thing to do. Her ashes came in a wonderful little box, but on top of that, they made a clay imprint of her front paws. So Mom just had to put a picture on here for everyone to see. What a great way to remember your pet, with her little paw prints on this super plaque. And the vets did this for us. It isn't fancy or perfet but it sure does the trick for us.

So I feel very lucky to have this. I am going to look for some kind of a box with glass on it that I can put the plaque into so it won't break. Anybody have any ideas on where to find a box??? Maybe someone knows someone else that sells that kind of thing.

That is so thoughtful! Most of the vets here in Los Angeles are nice enough, but they tend to be a little impersonal.

That sure was kind of your vet. What a wonderful momento of your special kitty.
When our iguana died a few years ago, the vet made an imprint of her foot like that, we have it hanging like an ornament up in the loft where her cage used to be.

What a wonderful thing to do. I would love that too.

My first thought was a shadow box. Here's a link to Target for shadow boxes. http://www.target.com/Shadow-Boxes-Frames-Home-D%C3%A9cor/b?ie=UTF8&node=14263761&afid=yahoosspc&lnm=clp|14263761&ref=tgt_adv_XSYC1060

Perhaps that's what you need. I hope so.

Have a terrific day. :)

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion of the shadow box. I think that is probably just what I need. I checked them out at Target but going to check some other places too. Thanks a bunch.

Dana, I like your idea of hanging it up too. Just have to find somewhere the other kitties cannot play with it.

What a kind and thoughtful vet you have Marg, to make that plaque with Squeaky's paw prints on for you. A very treasured memory. I can't offer any suggestions on where to find a glass box, but I hope you find one to put it in for safekeeping.

It is hard to find a Vet that really cares. They do there jobs okay but do not go that extra step.

That was very nice of your vet to do. I've never had pawprints of my pets before but it's a wonderful idea. We have gotten our boxes from the pet crematory place. My husband has had to do that part as I just bawl but they do have nice ones.

That was a nice thing that your vet did. A great memory of sweet Squeaky...

That's really very touching--you really do have thoughtful vets! This makes me sad (I have Sweetie's ashes here and haven't spread or buried them yet--it's been 3 years!) but it's good you have a sweet memento to remember your kitty-kid!

That was very nice of them! I did a kit like that when one of my past corgis was a puppy - maybe I should try to do the kids now. The vets out here aren't the greatest when it comes to things like that. :(

I second the shadow box too! I'm sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is :(

That plaque is a lovely idea, and so nice of them to do that for pet owners! If you sign up for Michael's mailing list (I think it's Michaelscrafts.com) they will email you a 50% off coupon for your first purchase; they have some terrific shadow boxes there (and I am all about the discount shopping! :o)

That's such a thoughtful gesture. We got one of those when our kitty Cricket had to go to the Bridge, but my Mommeh cannot bear to look at it.

Yes, those are beautiful and wonderful keep-sakes. We have one for all of those that are no longer with us too.

That imprint is just the nicest thing, what a caring vet's office.

That is beautiful. Shadow boxes would be the best for that, I think. You can get some for not too much money. It's just a thick frame.

You have a great vet for doing that for you. Really. What a great sentiment.

I have the same kind of plaque for my dog. It gives me a lot of comfort whenever I look at it. Yours made me look at it a few more times as I wrote this.

That's so nice that your vet's office takes the time to do something like that. I definitely think you should put in a box/frame. Hang it on the wall. I got a couple of boxes with plexi-glass tops once at a craft store. They were real cheap as they were clearing them out. I had to paint them myself, but they did the trick. I have also seen these in the craft section at the dollar store a few times.

Thanks Joella, I sure will look at the Dollar Store. I have a coupon for Michaels so will look both places.

Hi Ratty, glad I made you look at your plaque. I just love this one.

That's a very cute badge! For the box you can just buy few pieces of acrylic board and stick it by yourself. Of go to the local frame-maker to a small fee.

So sorry to hear about Squeaky Marg... but i bet Squeaky is happy and running about over at the rainbow bridge. How very sweet and thoughtful of you vet.

Happy New Year to you Marg and your staff too!

This is such a sweet and touching little memorial to Squeaky. I wish vets in the UK would do this. We got Angel's ashes back yesterday in a nice little casket with a name plate. I kept some of her fur from her blanky and I have a few of her whiskers that would shed from time to time.

I think the shadow frame suggestion is great. The pawprint even shows little claw imprints, that's beautiful

Margie;

Just catching up on e-mails and found this Sallie sent quite awhile ago. Think it was among the airline statements etc. and I missed it.

This is a truly wonderul vet. When Petunia died we got sympathy cards from both vet and receptionist....sent separately. I thought that was nice, but your vet beat that!

Of course I'm sure they know at office how much stock you put in your darling animals!
