Oh noooos, I have cystitis.

Hi there, Ande here. Yikes, I am in the car, that is not good news. Guess I am headed to the v-e-t.  I have been having some trouble with my peeing mechanism. I have to pee all the time and that is not any fun. So off we go.

Well I am home and taking a snooze after my nerve breaking trip to the V.E.T. I have cystitis which is an infection and inflammation of the bladder. It can also be referred to as a  urinary tract infection. It occurs more in the ladies since the ladies have a shorter urethra than the guys, so bacteria doesn't have to travel as far to the the bladder. The bacteria  that causes bladder infections in dogs usually come from the dog's own intestinal tract.

So I have to take pills three times a day which I don't mind. Then if it doesn't get better, I have to go back so they can steal some blood. But it is already the next morning here, and I think I am already better. At least I haven't had to go out this morning.

So if your doggie has to pee very often or acts uncomfortable while peeing, please take the pooch to the vet because it can become a serious deal if it spreads to the kidneys. My assistant will keep you posted.

Ooh Ande we are glad you are feeling much better today. Emma the cat that lived here before us used to get cystitis regularly as she got old and she had stuff from the v-e-t and it took the ouchie away quickly. You'll soon be your lovely self again soon.

Awww, Ande, poor baby. We hope the meds take care of it for good and that you're all better soon. At least it's easier to give a pill to a dog than it is to a cat! LOL!

Hello there! Thank you so much for the warning about cystitis and thank you for explaining why girls get cystitis more often the boys do. Sometimes being a girl does not have any benefits but at least you are feeling much better now and at least you won't have to go outdoors so often!
I love posts that talk about real issues and this one hit the spot.

Ande, we are so sorry to hear this! We are very glad you are feeling a bit better. Dobby had cystitis once and he says it's quite uncomfortable. Our mom had to give him subcutaneous fluids - it really helped. Our mom says she has had it herself several times and she agrees that it's NO FUN - she's sending you lots of healing thoughts!

Purrs from Franklin, Dobby, Tasha (and mom Katie)

When I hear about urinary tract infections, it's usually one of my kitty friends, so I never thought about it happening with dogs, but of course it does! Feel better, Ande!!

Oh no! We hope you get better really soon. I have had that problem a couple times and it is not fun. Mom races me to the vet and I'm on pills and then she races me back for more tests. Actually she isn't racing too fast now because of the tickets they are giving out but when I'm sick, she really speeds it up anyway! Please get better soon! Lots of love, Holly and mom
