My name is Ande and I am  watching the dafodils pop open. I am  making sure that they do it right. We will have to take some more pictures in a day or two after they have opened up some more.

This is our first garden post. We belong to the Garden club which should be a lot of fun because Mom loves to work in our yard and we do help her sometimes. The Garden club is called The Society of Feline Gardeners and Jonesie over there at Cory cat talks is the president. Here is a link if you want to check it out. Cory Cat Talks Our first post has a dog in it but they said the doggies could be honorary members. Don't worry we have plenty of cats to be in the club too. We are all looking forward to posting about our garden which isn't much, but we all do love flowers and trees etc.

This is some lettuce plants Mom bought for the fun of it because she loves to eat salad. So we will keep track of how it grows and see if she ever gets to have fresh lettuce. Now, you see the sticks in the plant. Well guess what, the young cats that live here love to dig in all the pots and have so much fun doing it. So Mom put the sticks in the pot. The pot is also on top of another pot to make it a little harder for all those silly kitties to jump into the pot. We may never have any lettuce. Does anyone have any brain storms as to how to keep all these lovely kitties out of the pots??

Ha. Good luck with growing the lettuce or anything else in pots. I have a very tiny townhouse "yard" and for the past two summers, Nicki and Derry have zoomed through it (it's enclosed), jumping on, lying on, and nibbling on all the plants. Most of which didn't survive their "help." And Derry LOVES to lie in pots, even when I put plastic chicken wire over them to keep him out. It doesn't deter him at all. So if YOU find a way to thwart your cats, let ME know!

Awwwww Ande - you look so relaxed watching the flowers pop! As for keeping kitties out of pots... er... I did see Kim from Fuzzy Tales try chicken wire over her pots but I think her Derry found it a rather nice place to sleep..!! :-) Take care x

Looks like some signs of Spring! Very exciting!!!

Maggie May is now taking the anti-anxiety meds along with Chevelle and Maizy. Things go very well when they are all relaxed.

Nice pics Marg! Those are going to be some beautiful Daffodils...our haven't come up yet. I think it's because of the unusually cold winter we had.

Hi Andre...you're a pretty one. Just saying.

Spring has sprung here too and we are loving it. Hubby spent a great deal of yesterday doing yard work.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

Oh, no, looks like another group I'll have to join! I've been gardening here for 20 years and always enjoy a cat or two outside with me, especially one of the older ones. Here's an article I wrote last spring about "My Feline Garden Sprites": http://portraitsofanimals.wordpress.com/2009/04/13/my-feline-garden-sprites/, and Cookie and I are working on a report on the melting of the snow and the reappearance of the yard which I'll be posting this weekend.

No luck keeping kitties out of the pots--or groundhogs, squirrels, chipmunks or birds, either, for that matter! I ended up getting pretty creative with hanging things on poles and clotheslines and off the deck roof!

It's so nice to see signs of spring everywhere. Love your little helpers. Amber is an indoor kitty, but she's enjoying the warm breeze through the window screens.

You are lucky to have stuff popping up already - it doesn't seem like anything has started around here yet (but it is supposed to be warm the next few days so who knows). We don't have a garden (we have a potted tree) really but I would love to get the cats to leave the pot alone - my poor tree is not doing well (soon it can go back outside at least). If you find any good ideas be sure to let us know!!

Looking at these pictures have made me very envious. We still have a few feet of snow up here in the Yukon Territory. I guess that is to be expected though.

Hmmm.... the only way I can see keeping cats out of the planters is to hang them from somewhere. Although, the sticks might work but cats are pretty smart so I am sure they will figure it out.

By the way, the flowers are looking great!

Ande, we hope you don't try to eat those flowers!! Our flowers aren't coming up yet, but we've seen some green stuff trying to poke through the dirt. Won't be long now!!

We have to put big flat rocks in all the flowerpots so Mango doesn't poo in them.

We have very pretty crocuses coming up in our garden. But we like the sun and the soft weather the most. We hope our trees get their leaves back soon.

Yes indeedy, the Spring time is right around the corner, literally. Before I can even think of flowers, I have this reminder of last fall, the leaves that have rested there since I was lazy. Did I mention I hate raking :-(
