THIS IS JOE WITH HIS HAIRY FACE
I have had horses all my life and they all get very heavy coats in the winter time to keep them warm. Of course we humans put blankets on them too to also keep them warm. Cold weather is very hard on the horses and donkeys because they drink less water and so their digestive parts don't work as well.
These two donkeys have gotten their long johns this year but they get all kinds of extra hair on their faces which I have never seen before. I tried to take some pictures of the hair but it was hard to do. They have hair hanging over their eyes and a big poof of hair on their foreheads. It makes them look quite funny. So I guess their faces are warm which is good. I cannot put blankets on them, because they are so naughty, that they probably would chew the blankets off of each other. They love to carry things around. If I leave a lead rope loose anywhere, it disappears.
THIS IS SMOKE
And to help the problem of the frozen water, I take hot water out to the barns twice a day. And I also put some buckets of water in the places that the sun hits first thing in the morning and they thaw out by 9:30 in the morning.
So if you have animals outside please make sure that they have water that isn't frozen. That is almost more important that food but extra food is important too.
So does anyone have animals that stay outside???

I don't have any animals outside. We have a dog and she's treated like a queen. She is well traveled too. We always think of her first even before ourselves. To say she's spoiled would be an understatement.
Have a terrific day. :)
ps: You asked about lizards, and yes, Harley is an expert lizard hunter. When it's warm out, lots of little lizards get inside the house (I think they get in through the bottom of the sliding glass doors). He catches them in an instant, and refuses to let go. My Mommeh cannot even pry his mouth open. Usually she runs and gets a treat, and it tricks him into opening his mouth to eat the treat and letting the lizard go. I'm sad to say we have also found lots of lizard tails around the house, so I think he has eaten lots of lizards, too, even though we are Not Allowed to eat them.
For outside animals, I've been taking extra care of the kitties in my office parking lot. It's been absolutely freezing this week (and will be next week, too!) and they're just not used to that. Extra food, extra water, extra warm-up petting... Stay warm everyone!
"The Boys" are inside cats but we do see cats in the snow across the street now and then.
And the other morning somebody's dog was outside playing in the snow and our garbage!
We appreciate that you stopped by our blog this morning, too :)
