Clumsy Handyman

If I wasn't married to my household handyman, I would fire him. He does have the best intentions and some good handy skills but quite frankly, he leaves a wake of other broken things in his path. The latest to happen is a broken window in our guest bedroom.

What happened was he was trying to replace the batteries in our smoke alarm. The room had prety high ceilings, so standing on a chair or bed - even when you're six feet tall like my husband - just doesn't work. So he had a ladder out and was climbing down the rungs after he had replaced the batteries. He was also carrying his small tool bag with him, when his shoelace got caught on the ladder, it tipped over and the tool bag flew from his hand and through the window.

I was really worried that he hurt himself because he has a bad back but he only had a bruised knee. It was a miracle that he didn't really get hurt because he is so clumsy, but I was glad. We called SEARS Home Improvement Houston and got them to replace the window really quickly.

We retrieved the tool bag from the bush it had landed in outside, away from our cars, and I outlawed my husband from carrying one up the ladder with him. I told him next time, I'll hold the ladder and hand tools up to him.
